The Race Against Time: The End of Days

 


Throughout history various sages and prophets had predicted this as the so-called End of Days.

It was certainly the end of something and the beginning of something entirely different. It was entirely unclear, inside a human, with their limited capacity for reason and their limited intellects, to tell exactly what that was; gripped as we all were by strange forces. 

Saints and sages babbled across the globe; while wars and the rumours of wars were the daily fodder of the headlines, and an escalating fear that human civilisation itself now faced an existential threat, that they would survive, as he believed, only in remote valleys in the Himalayas, far from the daily threats of civilisation.

Here in Australia, the utter and complete betrayal of the population by its leaders was now clearly understood by a significant section of the population. Parasites they were, our so-called leaders, leaching money off the struggling muddling middle classes, hoovering every spare dollar they could locate off a beleagured population.

Poverty became the norm. And a defeated population. While elsewhere developments, in the human genome, in the marriage of biology and technology, moved forward with such ill intent it was almost impossible to grasp.

Nothing was as it seemed. "Don't you know everything is a lie," he said to a woman down the dog park, bewildered by yet another government action with negative consequences for everybody but themselves.

Their own accreting power. 

They brought this coming revolution on themselves. And it was they, not the meek, who would be destroyed.

Guardian Australia newsroom and Roy Morgan explainers. Analysts note the Coalition’s vote has cratered while One Nation hoovers regional and outer-metro seats. Labor still leads most two-party preferred counts after preferences, but the map is redrawn: many contests now ALP versus One Nation, not ALP versus Liberal. Albanese’s personal numbers have taken hits; Hanson’s favourability has swung wildly after the multiculturalism remarks. Volatility is the only constant.

The YouTube comment sections are the usual Australian political cocktail: “About time,” “She’s still the same Hanson,” “Preferences will save Labor,” “The majors did this to themselves.” Thumbnails everywhere — Hanson at the Press Club, poll bars exploding, Albo looking grim. The algorithm has decided this is the story of the year.

It Began

  It began in cyclonic circumstance, with the wind whipping off Bondi Beach as he struggled through a gale up and down the beachfront. There was no life. The bars were all closed or closing. There were few people about. Fraud: Clamouring Dissent

  Foul beasts stalked the Earth. Australia became the kingdom of liars. Dissent was quashed. Fraud was everywhere. The government lied, the politicians lied, the intelligence agencies lied, and deceit permeated every aspect of everybody's life. Taxed into oblivion, taxed into servitude, modern day slavery, overwhelmed by strangers, forced out of affordable accommodation, he'll be lucky to afford a van by the time we're finished with him, the cruel hoax these people represented was literally everywhere. A sharp dagger rammed up through their guts and disembowelled them. A sharp bird flew overhead, squawking with piercing eyes, knowing too much and avenging strangers.  The sacred and the profane.
